Sharp to invest around USD 5 billion in India plans to set fab semiconductor unit
Japanese firm Sharp Corporation has plans to invest USD 3-5 billion to set up a display fab semiconductor factory in India. The firm is currently exploring potential locations for the manufacturing setup and has been in talks with state governments in Telangana, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
The firm is planning to set up a 1,000-acre facility in India which will be even bigger than its factory back home in Japan. Sharp wants to use the Indian factory to cater to both domestic demand and exports.
