BMC approves pedestrian underpass project worth over Rs 702 crore
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has approved the construction of an underground pedestrian vestibule connecting the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and Nehru Science Centre Metro station area on Line 3 with the Coastal Road’s Worli promenade.
The 3.5–4-kilometre link was approved during a meeting of the BMC’s Standing Committee and is estimated to cost Rs 702.44 crore. Once completed, the project is expected to provide a direct pedestrian connection from the Nehru Science Centre Metro station to the Worli promenade and landscaped garden, passing beneath the Mahalaxmi Racecourse area and Lala Lajpatrai Road.
