BMC approves udesalination project worth Rs 2,241 crore
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has approved the construction of an underwater tunnel for the Manori desalination project in Mumbai. This project, worth Rs 2,241 crore, spans 7.20 Km and connects the upcoming Manori desalination plant with the city’s water distribution network in Kandivali.
As per BMC, the scope of work involves design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the tunnel linking the proposed pumping station at Manori with Charkop and further to Mahavir Nagar in Kandivali.
Afcons Infrastructure Ltd will undertake the work, and Tata Consulting Engineers will serve as the project management consultant. The period of completion of the work is 45 months.
