BPCL's Nellore refinery project receives environmental clearance recommendation
Government-owned Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited's (BPCL) proposed greenfield refinery and petrochemical complex project in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh has received Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) environmental and coastal regulatory zone (CRZ) clearances.
The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has finally recommended the clearances for the project worth Rs 1.03 trillion. This paves the way for the start of construction work at the project site.
Spread over 5,200 acres of land, the facility will have 9 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) capacity with a complex product slate that includes 5.4 million tonnes of transportation fuels like petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF).
