Bullet train project: Inaugural run likely in 2027, to cover 100 km
The much-awaited Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR), also known as the bullet train project, is likely to see the train rolling in 2027. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the nation is set to witness the inaugural run of its first bullet train in August 2027.
This inaugural run would be done between Surat and Vapi in Gujarat. Initially, it would cover 100 km and will gradually be expanded to the full 508 km route once the high-speed rail corridor between Sabarmati (Ahmedabad) and Mumbai is completed by 2029.
