CIL to invest Rs 35,000 crore in new coal-gasification plants
The largest government-owned coal producer in the world, Coal India Limited (CIL) has planned 4 large-scale coal-to-chemical projects through the surface coal gasification route. It would invest around Rs 35,000 crore in the project. CIL has inked 3 agreements, one each with central PSUs, Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), Indian Oil Corporation, and Gas Authority of India (GAIL).
The proposed surface coal gasification (SCG) projects will be set up in West Bengal, Odisha, Chattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.
