First Vande Bharat sleeper train: PM Modi to flag off the train in January
The Indian Railways (IR) is set to flag of country's first sleeper Vande Bharat train on the Guwahati to Kolkata route. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that testing, trials, and safety certification have been concluded, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the inaugural service very soon (which is likely in the second half of January).
This launch would mark the next phase in the evolution of Vande Bharat trains, where the Vande Bharat trains would be designed for long-distance journeys of more than 1,000 kilometres. It would be aimed at providing faster, safer, and more comfortable overnight travel.
