Government approves Rs 60,000 crore for upgradation of ITIs
The Union Cabinet has given its nod to a Rs 60,000 crore national scheme for the upgradation of industrial training institutes (ITIs). This scheme also involves setting up 5 National Centres of Excellence for Skilling as a centrally sponsored scheme to be funded by the Centre, states, and the private sector.
Under the scheme, upgradation of 1,000 government ITIs in the hub and spoke arrangement with industry-aligned aligned revamped trades is expected to impart skills training to two million youth over the next 5 years.
