NMDC eyes to double its iron ore output by 2030
National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has plans to double its production to 100 million tonnes per year by 2030, up from the current 45 million tonnes. It would involve developing advanced infrastructure and processing plants. Meanwhile, the firm also seeks opportunities in critical minerals like lithium and cobalt through its subsidiary.
The aim is in line with the National Steel Policy also envisages India’s production capacity at 300 million tonnes by 2030. Iron ore is a key raw material used in the production of steel.
