Railways plans new underground rail line to boost connectivity to northeast India
Indian Railways is planning to develop a new underground railway line to boost connectivity to the North-East. The proposed 35.76 km underground railway line will run from Tinmile Hat to Bagdogra via Rangapani to secure the strategic Siliguri Corridor (also called Chicken’s Neck) in West Bengal.
The project will feature twin tunnels using Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) technology to ensure uninterrupted military and logistical connectivity.
