SAIL and John Cockerill join hands to invest Rs 6,000 crore
Government-owned Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in a joint venture with Belgium-based firm John Cockerill has plans to invest Rs 6,000 crore to establish a downstream plant for cold-rolled electrical steel types, utilizing SAIL's hot-rolled coils. At the time of writing the location of the plant was not disclosed but the plant is anticipated by 2027-2029, with an aim to produce 1.5 million tonnes per annum and promote green steel innovations.
