Sumitomo partners with Hero Group to set up a renewable energy project in India
Japan-based Sumitomo has partnered with Hero Group's clean energy arm, Hero Future Energies (HFE), for a hybrid renewable energy development project in India. The ~500 MWp solar and wind project will have a 200 MWh battery storage (BESS) located in Bidar, Karnataka.
The project is expected to be completed by March, 2027 and aims to supply electricity around the clock by integrating different renewable energy sources with battery storage to smooth generation fluctuations from weather changes.
In the Joint Venture (JV), Hero Future Energies holds a 51% stake, and Sumitomo Corporation holds a 49% stake.
