Water metro project: Kolkata to join the network
The Chief Minister of the state of West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, informed that the city of Kolkata will join the water metro network. This announcement came after a meeting with the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal.
As per updates, the project will be under the Sagarmala 2.0 initiative and will involve the development of large-scale jetties. Proposals worth Rs 22,700 crore are also under preparation for implementation over the next 5 years. There is a discussion to make West Bengal the maritime hub of eastern India.
