Mumbai???s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus To Get Airport Style Makeover, Expected To Cost Over 1,600 Crore
The iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai is set to get an airport-style makeover. The Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC) would be responsible for the Rs 1,642 crore airport-style makeover of the railway station. The execution of the ambitious project would be done through the PPP model. The idea is to restore the heritage to its 1930 levels through this upgrade, said SK Lohia, MD & CEO of IRSDC. Apart from being a busy railway station the terminus is also a UNESCO world heritage site and carries that element of Indian cultural heritage from the colonial era.
