Tasra coking coal mine: SAIL to begin operations in 2026
Public sector steel manufacturer, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has informed that it would likely operationalize its Tasra coking coal mines in Jharkhand by the second half of 2026. The mine has a 4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) capacity.
SAIL aims to increase the domestic sourcing of coking coal, reducing reliance on imports, and supporting it's goal to boost steel production capacity to 35.65 MTPA by 2031.
