Varun river rejuvenation project: Rs 400 crore sanctioned for the work
The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has approved the Varuna River rejuvenation project. The NMCG has approved Rs 400 crore for two projects that involve the construction of STPs worth 85 MLD. This is being done because the river has become polluted due to untreated sewage falling into it.
Work on the Bhadohi stretch, which will involve building 3 STPs, is worth Rs 127 crore. The Varanasi stretch, which involves the construction of an STP of 60 MLD capacity, requires an investment of Rs 274 crore.
