Rare earth mineral mining: Purulia in West Bengal identified as mining hub
The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has informed that it is conducting advanced exploration in West Bengal's Purulia district to extract rare earths. As per GSI, though the rare earth deposit is small in Purulia, the development comes at a crucial time as India looks to reduce dependence on imports of critical minerals.
These blocks will be auctioned soon, making the district of Purulia the hub for rare earth mining in India.
