Projects worth over Rs 4,800 crore to launched by PM Modi in Tamil Nadu
The Prime Minister is set to launch projects worth over Rs 4800 crore at a public event at Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, just after coming from his 2-day international visit to the UK and the Maldives. These projects are spread across multiple sectors.
- PM would inaugurate the New Terminal Building at Tuticorin Airport, developed with an estimated cost of Rs 450 crore
- Inauguration of 4-laning of the 50 km Sethiyathope-Cholapuram stretch of NH-36, developed at a cost of more than Rs 2,350 crore under the Vikravandi-Thanjavur corridor
- Inauguration of the 6-laning of the 5.16 km NH-138 Tuticorin Port Road, which was built at a cost of around Rs 200 crore
- PM would inaugurate North Cargo Berth-III with a cargo handling capacity of 6.96 MMTPA at VO Chidambaranar Port, worth around Rs 285 crore
- Inauguration of the electrification of the 90 km Madurai-Bodinayakkanur line
- Inauguration of doubling of the Aralvaymozhi-Nagercoil Junction (12.87 km) and Tirunelveli-Melappalayam (3.6 km) sections
- Foundation laying of major power transmission project - the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) for evacuation of electricity from Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant Units 3 and 4 (2x1000 MW), worth Rs 550 crore
