Rs 30,000 Crore Tender Floated By Indian Railways
Indian Railways has floated tender inviting bids for the manufacture and supply of 800 electric locomotives of 12,000 horsepower (HP). The estimated cost of the tender is worth Rs 30,000 crore. As per the tender, the locomotive will be manufactured at Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW), Varanasi, using Railway manpower. Further, the tender says that the locomotives would be maintained at government-run maintenance depots in Kanpur (UP), Sabarmati (Gujarat), and Tughlakabad (Delhi).
