Kathgarh Lift Irrigation project worth Rs 214 crores launched in Punjab
Minister for Water Resources, Government of Punjab, inaugurated the Kathgarh Lift Irrigation project in Balachaur. The project, worth Rs 214 crores, is constructed on the right side of the Bist Doab Canal and has a discharge capacity of 67 cusecs.
It is expected to expand irrigation coverage from 28,205 acres across 72 villages to nearly 42,205 acres spanning 105 villages. It will be executed in three stages, with the first stage, currently underway, having a discharge capacity of 22 cusecs and will irrigate around 5,000 acres across 13 villages.
