Critical mineral recycling: Union cabined approves scheme worth Rs 1,500 crore
The Union Cabinet has given its approval to a Rs 1,500 crore incentive scheme to boost recycling capacity for extracting and producing critical minerals from secondary sources. This scheme would run from FY 2025-26 to FY 2030-31 and aims to strengthen India’s domestic capacity.
As per updates, the scheme will cover recycling of e-waste, lithium-ion battery scrap, and other scrap such as catalytic converters from end-of-life vehicles. Both large established recyclers and smaller firms, including start-ups, will be eligible.
