Kharicut canal redevelopment project: Gujarat government sanctions over Rs 1,000 crore
The state government of Gujarat has sanctioned Rs 1,003 crore for the redevelopment of Phase 2 of the Kharicut canal. Project would be implemented by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for the canal that passes through the city. Under Phase 2, the corporation will undertake the redevelopment of the existing canal in stretches from S P Ring Road to Naroda Crematorium, Vinzol Canal to Avkar Hall at Ghodasar, Avkar Hall to Vatva Gam, and from Vatva Gam to S P Ring Road.
The scope of work involves the construction of RCC stormwater box structures, road and footpath development, retaining walls, water supply pipelines, irrigation structures, stormwater extensions, and sewer systems.
