Kedarnath and Hemkund Ropeway project: Cabinet clears Rs 6,800 crore proposal
The Union Cabinet gave its approval to 2 ropeway projects worth Rs 6,800 crore. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib ropeway projects.
The scope or work involves the construction of a 12.9 km ropeway project from Sonprayag to Kedarnath (12.9 km) on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) mode with an investment of Rs 4,081 crore. On the other hand, the Hemkund Sahib ropeway project, which will span 12.4 km, and is worth Rs 2,730 crore.
