Union minister lays foundation of sports centre in Himachal Pradesh
Union Minister of Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju laid the foundation stone for the High-Altitude Sports Training Centre and other sports projects in Lahaul and Spiti. The centre for High-Altitude Sports Training Centre, an ice hockey rink, and a cricket ground pavilion in Kaza would be built for Rs 82 crore.
These projects would be undertaken as a part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK). The project aims to empower local youth, promote winter sports such as ice hockey, generate employment, and transform Kaza into a key sports tourism destination.
