BARC to invest Rs 12,960 crores in development of small modular reactors
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) has plans to develop 220 MW Bharat Small Modular Reactors and two SMR-55 units. As per Business Standard, these will be developed under the Nuclear Energy Mission announced in the Union Budget 2025-26.
The development of Small Modular Reactors 220 MW will take an investment of Rs 5,960 crores. While the two SMR-55 units will take an investment of Rs 7, 000 crores.
