Common testing centre project: Country's first such facility to come up in Tamil Nadu
The country's first Common Testing Centre for Unmanned Aerial Systems (drones) would be established in Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) would be the nodal agency for the Rs 45 crore project.
The test center would enable the state to be a significant contributor to the self-reliance of the country in the aerospace and defense sector. Non-availability of a Common Testing Centre is an 'entry barrier' for organizations engaged in the aerospace and defense industry, and TIDCO has planned to set up such test centers under the Centre's Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme in Tamil Nadu.
