India chalks Rs 9.15 lakh crore plan to meet power demand by 2032
The government has chalked out a comprehensive plan worth Rs 9.15 crore to amplify the nation's power grid and enhance energy security. Named as National Electricity Plan for 2023-2032 the plan aims to expand the transmission network and integrate renewable energy sources, targeting a peak demand of 458 GW by 2032.
Major initiatives under it include increasing transmission capacity, electrifying vulnerable households, and improving cybersecurity in the power sector. The plans also incorporate emerging technologies like renewable energy and green hydrogen into the grid.
