MEIL bags order worth Rs 12,800 crore, becomes first private sector firm to get nuclear power order
Engineering and infrastructure firm Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd. (MEIL) has received a Rs 12,800 crore order from Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL). The order is two construct two 700 Megawatt (MW) nuclear reactors—Kaiga Units 5 & 6—in Karnataka.
The order is significant as it is the largest order ever placed by NPCIL, notably awarded to a private company. MEIL bagged the order under Quality-cum-Cost-Based Selection method.
