Purandar Airport: Government of Maharashtra clears Rs 6,000 crores state guarantee
The state government of Maharashtra has cleared a state guarantee for a Rs 6,000 crore loan for the proposed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport at Purandar in Pune district. This loan will be raised by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to fund land acquisition.
This guarantee holds for 1 year, within which the borrowing has to be tied up and the proceeds deployed for buying land and disbursing compensation to affected farmers. The proposed airport project will be spread over 3,000 acres.
