Posco comes back to Odisha, to setup greenfield project with JSW Group
South Korean steel major Posco is returning to the state of Odisha, 20 years after it left due to large-scale unrest by local people against its project in the state. The firm will develop a greenfield plant in collaboration with JSW Group with an investment of Rs 51,000 crores.
The state government of Odisha has already offered 1,000 acres of land for the project and is willing to offer more. There is a discussion to set up two major Greenfield projects in Odisha, one a 6 mtpa plant in Keonjhar district and another a 5 mtpa capacity steel mill in Dhenkanal district.
