Odisha plans to develop 19 highway projects, investment worth over Rs 4,100 crore on cards
The eastern state of Odisha is all set to launch 19 major highway projects with an investment of Rs 4,137 crore. These projects are a part of a much larger Rs 2 lakh crore plan by the Government of India to improve roads across the country.
The projects would cover many districts, such as Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Kandhamal, and Nayagarh. Work under the project involves widening of roads, improvement works, among other things. Further, 4 large bridges with a total length of 4.82 km will be built at a cost of Rs 427 crore.
Some major projects under the larger central government plan for Odisha are:
- Six-Lane Highway from Bhubaneswar to Puri with an investment of Rs 1,200 crore
- New Ring Road Around Bhubaneswar and Cuttack with an estimated cost of Rs 7,000 crore
- A corridor between Ranchi and Sambalpur with an estimated investment of Rs 8,000 crore
- Chandikhol–Paradip expressway is expected to be completed by 2026
Work is also underway on certain projects, and as per updates, Rs 60,000 crore is already going on.
