Odisha plans to generate 1,000 MW from floating solar plants
The state government of Odisha has plans to take up projects for the generation of around 1,000 megawatt (MW) floating solar energy from its reservoirs. State's reservoir committee has taken steps for the finalisation of integrated GIS maps of Hirakud, Rengali and Upper Indravati reservoirs and exploration of suitable sites in Upper Kolab and Balimela for execution of the project.
These move comes as the eastern state has set an ambitious target of 10 gigawatt (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030, of which around 7.5 GW is planned to be sourced from solar energy.
