Tata Group arm to aqcuire Wistron, set to become first to make iPhones in India
Tata Group’s manufacturing arm Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd (TEPL) is set to acquire Wistron’s operations in India for a deal worth Rs 1,000 crore. This will make TEPL the first Indian company to manufacture Apple iPhones.
Union minister of state information technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that Wistron buy will spur the next cycle of investment in the Indian electronics manufacturing ecosystem and signals the maturing of the country’s contract manufacturing companies.
