UltraTech informs commissioning 1 million tonnes at Roorkee unit
Cement sector major UltraTech Cement has informed about the commissioning of 1 million tonnes of brownfield capacity at its plant at Roorkee in Uttarakhand. As per The Economic Times, this takes the unit’s total capacity to 2.1 million tonnes per year.
The cement maker has invested over 50,000 crore rupees over the last seven years. It has acquired several smaller cement units, including the assets of Jaiprakash Associates over the last few years. The company is currently the third-largest producer of cement in the world, outside of China.
