3 Ethanol plants to be set by Kribhco
The central government's cooperative, Krishak Bharati Cooperative (Kribhco) has plans to set up 3 greenfield grain-based ethanol manufacturing plants. Plants would be based in the states of Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana and would be built over the next 3 years at an estimated cost of Rs 1,000 crore. A special purpose vehicle (SPV), Kribhco Green Energy has been formed by Kribhco to implement these bio-ethanol projects.
As of now, the firm has received environmental clearance for an ethanol distillery at Hazira in Surat. This unit will have the capacity to make 250 klpd and would require an investment of approximately Rs 350 crore. The proposed plant is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2024.
