The Union Railway Ministry has given its approval for India's first hydrogen-powered train. As per ET, it will be a 10-coach DEMU train running at a maximum speed of 75 kmph between Jind and Sonipat.
This comes after the approval from the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and safety testing by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS). The train will be using hydrogen fuel cells to generate power instead of diesel or electricity-based traction.
