NALCO aims to set up 300 MW green power capacity
Government-owned National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has plans to transition its power-intensive smelting operations to renewable energy sources. As a part of the plan, the firm will set up 200-300 MW of green power capacity backed by battery storage.
A move that is aimed at ensuring a reliable supply and significantly reducing carbon emissions. Currently, the firm relies 100 per cent on coal-based captive power plants that account for 80 per cent of its carbon emissions.
