Andhra Pradesh to get India's first semiconductor manufacturing facility
The state of Andhra Pradesh is set to house India's first private semiconductor manufacturing facility. Indichip Semiconductors Limited has signed a MoU with Japanese firm M/s Yitoa Micro Technology Limited (YMTL) for jointly developing the facility with an investment of Rs 14,000 crores.
The proposed facility will focus on manufacturing Silicon Carbide (SiC) chips, contributing to India’s technological advancement and sustainability goals. This comes after the Andhra Pradesh state government under its Semiconductor Policy announced in November 2024, that it aims to transform the state into a hub for electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.
