BEML bags order worth over Rs 866 crore for bullet train
Public sector firm BEML has bagged an order worth Rs 866.87 crore for the first indigenously manufactured bullet trains. The firm has bagged an order for the design, manufacturing, and commissioning of two high-speed trainsets.
Each of the trainsets would have 8 coaches and the trains will be delivered by the end of 2026. The order is placed by the Indian Railways production unit, Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai. This project is part of India's high-speed rail initiative, aimed at enhancing the train travel experience with modern amenities.
As per BEML, the price of each car is Rs 27.86 crore and the total contract value is Rs 866.87 crore which includes design cost, one-time development cost, non-recurring charges, one-time cost towards jigs, fixtures, tooling, and testing facilities.
