Sawalkot hydropower project: Rs 31,380 crore project set to get environment clearance
The Sawalkot hydroelectric project on the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir is set to get environmental clearance. This project is worth Rs 31,380 crore and would be a 1,856-MW. It would be developed by NHPC and will span two phases, and includes significant environmental safeguards.
This comes amid a strategic push following the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).
