Cabinet approves setting up security paper unit in Narmadapuram
The Union Cabinet has given its approval for setting up a cylindrical mould watermarked banknote paper production line at the Security Paper Mill (SPM) in Narmadapuram, in Madhya Pradesh.
The proposed project is estimated to cost Rs 1,788 crore, and the unit would have an annual capacity of 6,000 metric tonnes. It would replace two ageing production lines commissioned in the 1970s. With this SPM's total paper-making capacity will rise to about 12,000 metric tonnes a year from the current 7,500 metric tonnes.
