Outer ring road project: Maharashtra government approves Rs 4,800 crore
The state government of Maharashtra has approved Rs 4,800 crore for the outer ring road project. This loan would be raised by the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) from HUDCO.
The project is worth Rs 13,748 crore and also involves the development of four truck and bus terminals along the route. As per the plan new corridor will stretch 148 km in length and 120 meters in width, connecting Nagpur to all major highways, including Samruddhi Mahamarg, Amravati, Hingna, Hyderabad, Umred, Bhandara, Bhopal, Katol, and Jabalpur routes.
Transport hubs will come up at Turagondi and Shirul in Hingna taluka, Parsad in Kamptee, and Itgaon in Parseoni to complement the corridor. Around Rs 4,800 crore is earmarked for the acquisition of 1,697.18 hectares across 99 villages in nine talukas, while another Rs 8948 crore will be spent on construction and development.
