Brigade's Rs 2,000 crore residential project halted by Tamil Nadu government
The state government of Tamil Nadu has halted Brigade Enterprises’ residential housing project in Perumbakkam, South Chennai. Spread over 14.7 acres, the project houses 1,250 units and is halted as it allegedly falls within the ecologically sensitive Pallikaranai Ramsar Wetland Site.
This comes after anti-corruption NGO Arappor Iyakkam last October filed a complaint against the project. The project is worth Rs 2,000 crore and has been stuck by the order of the Tamil Nadu State Wetland Authority (TNSWA). As per the developer was legally unsustainable, factually incorrect and arbitrary in nature.
