Joint venture of Ester and Loop bags global supply order
ELITe, a 50:50 joint venture between polyester manufacturer Ester Industries and chemical sector company Loop Industries, has secured an order to supply up to 15,000 tonnes of recycled PET resin to a leading global sports (name not made public) and athletic brand.
The order will be supplied from ELITe’s upcoming greenfield facility in the PCPIR Dahej region of Gujarat. The JV is investing Rs 1,600 crore to develop the chemical recycling plant, which will have an annual production capacity of 70,000 metric tonnes.
The facility will use Loop Industries’ proprietary depolymerization technology to process polyester waste into virgin-quality monomers, including dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) and monoethylene glycol (MEG).
