L&T bags LIGO facility in Hingoli
Multinational business group Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has bagged an order from the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). The order is for the development of a Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) at Aundha in Hingoli district, in Maharashtra.
As per the firm's classification, the order ranges from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500 crore and is classified as a significant order. The scope of work involves engineering, procurement, and construction of vibration-sensitive specialised high-precision civil infrastructure. Further, the firm will manufacture and install an ultra-high vacuum compatible 8 km beam tube and critical equipment for vacuum infrastructure.
