New Maharashtra Government Fast Tracks Bullet Train Project
The new government of Maharashtra has given all the clearances for expediting the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. Maharashtra Cabinet’s decision of approving all clearances for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor would set to accelerate the project execution in the state. In the last two weeks, the new government has given the go-ahead to several pending clearances, including forest and environment, and has also expedited the land acquisition process.
In a statement, it was said that around 1. 2 hectares of land in Palghar has been handed over in the last week which was earlier stuck for months. For the project alignment passing through the forest area in the state, stage-I clearance has been granted by the Maharashtra government, and stage-II approval is also expected by September. Railways said that the new government has committed to handing over the required land for the rail terminus at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) by December, which is also the starting point of the Bullet train project.
