Railways approve Rs 895 crores for work in West Bengal
The Indian Railways (IR) has approved Rs 895.30 crores to strengthen bridge infrastructure and enhance metro rail power systems in West Bengal.
Rs 671.72 crore has been sanctioned to strengthen the North-South Corridor of the Kolkata Metro. As per ETInfra.com, the work involves 7 new traction substations costing Rs 291.06 crore and augmentation of auxiliary and traction substations from Esplanade to Kavi Subhash, including enhancement of the existing 11 KV system to 33 KV, for Rs 380.66 crores.
Further, Rs 223.58 crore has been approved for the bridge infrastructure project in Adra division for the construction of Bridge No. 520 UP and 520 DN between Madhukunda and the Damodar section, along with associated yard remodelling and track work.
