National Shipbuilding Mission: Cochin Shipyard and Swan Defence gets approval for expansion
Government-owned Cochin Shipyard Ltd and private sector shipyard Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Ltd (SDHI) have received in-principle approval for their brownfield expansion projects under the National Shipbuilding Mission (NSM).
Cochin Shipyard, in a joint venture (JV) with South Korea’s HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co Ltd, will build a block fabrication facility with an investment of Rs 4,000 crore. SDHI has got approval for the installation of a second Goliath Crane of a minimum capacity of 600 T and a new ELL crane of 40 T capacity at Pipavav, Gujarat.
