Border Roads Organisation floats tender for project worth Rs 400 crore
Defense ministry's firm Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has invited bids for the construction of the 135 km long Chushul-Dungti-Fukche-Demchok highway, also known as the CDFD road. The road would be along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) starting from Chushul to Demchok matching the National Highway single-lane standards. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 400 crore.
As per BRO completion of this road will act as a major strategic advantage for India as it will enable quick movement of troops and equipment in case of a crisis with China. Further, it will also help in tourism by converting this area into a circuit. The work involves the construction of 3 important bridges and the BRO has already completed the detailed project report of the planned highway stretch in 2018.
