Hindustan Zinc chalks out capex worth Rs 25,000 crore
Vedanta Group firm Hindustan Zinc has chalked out a capital expenditure (CAPEX) worth Rs 25,000 crore. The investment will fuel the expansion of refined zinc and lead capacity, targeting 2 million tonnes annually by FY30.
The firm will commence the next phase of its refined metal capacity expansion, which will involve setting up over 600 thousand tonnes per annum (ktpa) of additional zinc and lead smelting capacity. It is already investing around 12,000 crore to expand its existing 1,144 ktpa refined metal capacity by an additional 250 ktpa, with an increase in the capacity of the integrated zinc smelter at Debari, Rajasthan.
Investment will also cover expansion of mined metal capacity from the existing 1,180 ktpa to 1,510 ktpa across mines. It is expected to be completed by the second quarter of FY29.
